Rotary District 3450 Annual Golf Day at Zhuhai 

(14th April 2023)

P Priscilla, PP Kelvin Mui and Rtn. Kelvin Lee represented the Club to participate in the District Annual Golf Day which was moved to Zhuhai this year. PP Kelvin managed to get a “closest to the pin” prize! 

RCOHK 92nd Anniversary Gala Dinner at 

The Helena May

(24th March 2023) 

Our Club held our 92nd Gala Dinner on 24th March 2023 in the historic building of The Helena May. The theme was “Leading an Impactful Service above Self” and the celebration focused on the Club’s over 90 years of service to the community. Approximately 70 guests attended, enjoying the fellowship, particularly the photo taking session in the elegant Blue Room, the singing of dedicated songs and the ballet dancing by students led by P Mimi of our Rotaract Club. 


Golf Fellowship with Rotary Club of Macau

(10th February 2023)

The Club had a relaxing golf day-trip to Macau Golf and Country Club followed by an authentic Portuguese dinner afterwards with members from the Rotary Club of Macau to rekindle 3 years of lapse connection since the outbreak of the Covid pandemic. It was a great day for golf and the dinner, at a Portuguese restaurant opened by a member of RC Macau, was delicious!


Kadoorie Farm Visit

23rd October 2021

Following our sponsorship delivering the 2 poor civets to Singapore, we were invited to a tour of the Kadoorie Farm and was given VIP privilege to visit several “behind the scenes” areas which demonstrated the extent of habitat preservation, veterinary and research work done by the Farm. A total around 25 Rotarians and family members attended this educational and most enjoyable tour.

90th Anniversary Gala Dinner

 

We held our 90th Anniversary Gala Dinner in style at the Government House. We were graced by the Hon. Chief Executive of Hong Kong SAR, Mrs. Carrie Lam, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr. Edward Yau, DG Eric, DGE Keith, DGEN Norman and other VIPs. The event was held in accordance with the new Category D regulations whereas all staff had to be fully vaccinated, and all attendants vaccinated for at least one jab. Mrs. Carrie Lam greeted us, advised that the Government House has not held similar events for the past 18 months and claimed the event to be the “beginning of return to normal” for the Government House and hopefully Hong Kong in the post covid19 era. We in RCOHK hope that it will also be the beginning of return to normal for Hong Kong.

District Golf Tournament

4th June 2021

 

Our Club participated in the District Golf Tournament held at the Hong Kong Golf Club, Fanling. We joined with a team of 16 players, 4 flights, out of a total 27 flights. No prizes were won except great fellowship.

Way of the Sword Guided Tour

6th April 2021

16 members enjoyed a special Easter Fellowship Event at the Tai Kwun. It was our privilege to have the curator, Mr. Chao Sih Hing, who is also the executive chairman of Wah Kwong Maritime Transport, to guide us through the exhibition. Mr. Chao is also a visiting lecturer of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and an expert on many aspects of Chinese culture, including the field of Chinese martial studies. The tour was followed by a sumptuous lunch at a nearby new Korean restaurant.

Fellowship Event – Private Art Appreciation Tour

15th January 2021

Rtn. Connie Lam invited us to a private tour of their Art Exhibition celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Art School at the Arts Centre. We were honoured to have Mr. Kurt Chan, the Head of the Art School, to guide us through the numerous art works displayed which really enhanced our appreciation of it. A total of around 10 members joined and we had a great time.

A Moment of Sorrow

We mourn the departure of Rtn. Hans D. Isler who has been a long-term active member of our Club right up to his last day. May he rest in peace.

Our P Peter, PP Arun, PP Mitzi and husband, PP Donna and family, IPP Kenneth and Program Director Elsie and husband joined other Clubs in the Area 2 2020 End Polio Walk at the Peak. Great weather and fellowship.

Rotary Club of Hong Kong Golf Tournament

9th October 2020

Kau Sai Chau Golf Course

We resumed our Club’s Golf Tournament after a pause of 27 years (the last event was in 1993!). The event was held at Kai Sai Chau and the weather was sunny with a gentle breeze. 4 Flights of players participated and the winner of the RCOHK Silver Plate is our PP Frankie Lam. Thanks PP Kelvin for organizing this stimulating event in this difficult year when golf slots in HK are so hard to secure.

DG Visit to Mongolia

(20th August – 26th August, 2019)

Following this year’s “Connect” theme, P Kenneth with spouse and PE Peter with spouse represented RCOHK in the DG visit to Mongolia. We took the chance to visit our mobile clinic which was recently shipped and handed over to the Rotary Club of Ulaanbaatar Central in support of their continuing Test for Life project, and other amazing service projects done by other Mongolian Rotary Clubs for the local community.

Roaming the Mongolian grasslands and living in the Mongolian gers was a great experience. The fellowship with our Mongolian counterparts are unforgettable. 

Visit to the European Union Office in Hong Kong

(20th August 2019) 

Hon. Treasurer Connie Leung arranged a special visit to the European Union Office in Hong Kong to enhance our understanding and communication with their officers and exchange ideas. Around 15 members attended the visit, many of them our PPs and senior members. Shows that fellowship events can be serious stuff also!

Club Visit to RC Admiralty

(14th August 2019)

Responding to this year’s “Connect” theme, we will make extra efforts to connect with our daughter clubs in Hong Kong and sister clubs overseas by means of Joint Club Meetings and Club Visits. The first Club Visit this year was to RC Admiralty on 14th August. We had 5 members joining, including PP Kelvin Mui who shared the speaker platform with Rtn. Jones Chan of RC Admiralty on an introduction to how we together realized the mobile clinic for the Mongolian Test for Life project.

88th Anniversary Gala Dinner 10 April 2019

We celebrated our 88th Anniversary Gala Dinner with style at the Hong Kong Club. The theme of the dinner was “Inherit and Invent”. PP Vernon Moore gave a keynote speech that took us through the history of the Club spotted with his memoirs of the fond moments. After all, Rotary participation is supposed to be fun ! Thanks to DG YC, DGE Wilson, DGEN Keith and other District dignitaries who joined us and stayed until the end. The dinner finished with a heated auction led by PE Kenneth for a diamond pendant donated by AG Rafael which was eventually sold at 1.33 times its listed price.
