“ Walkathon 2013 – Let Love Be Your Guide” on 9 Nov 2013 at the Repulse Bay Beach Promenade

Thanks to all who joined, helped and sponsored us for the “Walkathon 2013 - Let Love Be Your Guide ” on 9 November 2013, Saturday! It was a beautiful morning for a walk along the Repulse Bay Beach Promenade. Our Board members, volunteers and about 84 participants were met at 8:30am and some catching up before the walk officially kicked off at 9 am. Our project leader, Director Elaine Tong, rallied the team before we all head off for the 5 kilometers walk through Repulse Bay Beach Promenade to the Mills and Chung Path, and back.

Thanks to Director Elaine Tong for her great leadership along with the Board Members and other supporters; the Walkathon had successfully raised fund of HK$78,907 in total! HK$70,000 will benefit to the “Hong Kong Guide Dogs Association” for supporting their Guide Dogs Service in Hong Kong. The rest of the raised fund will go to support our 2 Rotaract Clubs (“Rotaract Club of Hong Kong” and “Rotaract Club of the University of Hong Kong”) for their upcoming youth projects.

If you joined us at the Walkathon on 9 November 2013, you saw every of us would have a very nice Rotary Bucket Hat! These Bucket Hats were sponsored by PP Debbie Annells.

And every participant who completed the walk would also receive a “Certificate of Merit” which was nicely designed by Director Kelvin Mui’s Office and printed free of charge by “Wave Advertising Printing Company”. PE Carl Yuen also made the great effort on getting sponsor “Fink” for the prizes of “Highest Sponsorship Award”! Thanks to PP Debbie Annells, PE Carl Yuen and Director Kelvin Mui for their generous gifts and support through this event!

Age 18 – 50: Elaine Tong (HK$18,400)

Over 50: Kelvin Mui (HK$10,900)

Besides these, on 9 November 2013, Interactors and Rotaractors of all our sponsored Interact and Rotaract Clubs had formed several groups to help and walk with us! Their fabulous energy and support made for one successful and memorable Walkathon this year!
