of “AIDS Concern”

About “AIDS Concern”

“AIDS Concern” was founded in Hong Kong in 1990. They were the first Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) response to AIDS in the territory. They started out as a small but enthusiastic group of volunteers, from diverse backgrounds, who came together out of a common concern for the well being of people living with HIV/AIDS, as well as with the determination to prevent the disease from spreading.

They aims to keep HIV prevalence in Hong Kong low level through targeted prevention and care programmes for vulnerable communities, and to reduce the stigma attached to the disease and the communities most affected.

Over the past decades, they have developed a wide range of sexual health intervention programmes, targeting specific communities of sexually active individuals with a view to increasing condom use, raising awareness about the need to reduce the number of sex partners and facilitating a better access to testing and treatment services for HIV and other Sexually Transmitted Infections.

At the upcoming Tuesday’s meeting, Irene Lam, Director of Marketing and Communication and Fei Chan, Senior Programme Officer of “AIDS Concern” will further speak us on epidemic of HIV in Hong Kong and their strategies for AIDS prevention, care and control in Hong Kong.
