“Rotary and the United Nations Decade of

Education for Sustainable Development (UNDESD) Project”

UNESCO Hong Kong Association (UNESCO HK) Limited is a charitable institution under Section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance. (IRD Ref No. 91/10053)

UNESCO HK is dedicated to facilitating and achieving UNESCO's mission, creating conditions for dialogue among civilizations, cultures and peoples based upon respect for commonly shared values. It is through this dialogue that the world can achieve global visions of sustainable development encompassing observance of human rights, mutual respect and the alleviation of poverty.

United Nations (UN) tasked UNESCO to implement the UNDESD project in 2002. The ESD projects promoted by UNESCO HK in the region include, UNDESD Project Hong Kong Award Scheme, UNESCO Project Hong Kong School (Member, Experimental, and Exemplary Schools), ESD Student Forum and Exchange Programmes, Caretakers of the Environment International Conference (CEI), ESD Center and Sister School Programme. In the last few years, Rotary Club of Hong Kong has been supporting this initiative. The talk would include:

1. What is the aims and objectives of this UN project?

2. What is ESD?

3. The development of this project in HK and progress.

4. Rotary and UNESCO

5. UNESCO HK & Way forward
