“Highlights of 41st Hong Kong Arts Festival and Asian Festivals in Singapore and South Korea”

Tisa Ho is Executive Director of the Hong Kong Arts Festival, presenting over 150 performances by some of the world’s top artists in spring each year. In 2011, she took the Festival from an annual turnover of about HK$65 million to over HK$100 million.

Launched in 1973, the Hong Kong Arts Festival is a major annual festival in the region and the territory's premier cultural event. Featuring local and international artists in an eclectic array of music, theatre, dance, and popular entertainment, the Festival takes place in over a dozen venues in February and March. It seeks to present performances at the highest standards to enrich cultural life in Hong Kong and serves an annual audience of over 150,000 including 10,000 Young Friends of the Festival. In addition to commissions, the Festival publishes and produces original work, mainly in theatre and multi-media, available for subsequent touring.

At the Tuesday’s Meeting, Tisa will introduce the Highlights of 41st Hong Kong Arts Festival which will be launched from 21 Feb 2013 – 22 March 2013 and she will also speak about two other Asian Festivals: in Singapore, and in Tong Yeong, South Korea.

Tisa’s has worked in arts policy and infrastructure development, managed the Singapore Arts Festival, Singapore Symphony Orchestra and Victoria Concert Hall. She helped set up the Alliance of Asia-Pacific Region Orchestras and Singapore International Piano Festival, chaired the Hong Kong Arts Administrators’ Association and serves on the Boards of the Association of Asia Pacific Arts Festivals and the Hong Kong International Literary Festival.

NGO work includes the CEDAW process at the UN, Presidency of the International Women’s Forum (HK); Association of Women for Action and Research (Singapore) and the Singapore National Council of Women’s Organisations. Tisa is also an editor and author with eight published titles.
